PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for extensively and efficiently screening actinomycetes including new alkaline actinomycetes, by eliminating bacteria, and to provide a useful alkaline actinomycete given by the method. SOLUTION: This method for isolating the alkaline actinomycete comprises putting a specimen containing the actinomycete on a sucrose solution having a density gradient, conducting centrifugal separation, removing a condensed fraction of the bacteria, seeding an alkaline culture medium with a remaining fraction, and collecting a strain grown in the culture medium.
