An image generation device generates continuous image data from successive medical examination images. An encoding device compresses the image data by using a prediction process. An evaluation unit evaluates physiological periodic data regarding repetition rate related to the data. A ring buffer memory stores the compressed image data. The encoding device is connected to evaluation unit which controls encoding device by adjusting prediction process relative to current period length of physiological periodic data. An independent claim is also included for continuous image data compressing method.
