Provided is an imaging device capable of printing or displaying a synthetic image of excellent visibility. The imaging device comprises an imaging optical system, an imaging sensor for converting an optical image into electric image signals, a position detecting unit for detecting the position of the imaging device at an imaging time, a recording unit for recording a taken image based on the image signals and position information on the position of the imaging device corresponding to the taken image, an adding unit for adding letter information containing a letter string in a manner to correspond to the taken image, a print control unit for creating print data containing the taken image and the letter information, and a print data outputting unit for outputting the print data created. The print control unit creates, based on the position information, print data containing the taken image and the letter information added by the adding unit in the direction identical to the vertical one of the taken image.
