<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high-image-quality gradation image by improving reproducibility of gradations. <P>SOLUTION: The image formation apparatus comprises a pulse position table LUT_P122. The table stores a multiple pieces of pulse width data and the corresponding relation with pulse positions in the cycles of a plurality of pulse signals respectively corresponding to them. Based on predetermined pulse width data corresponding to a predetermined image concentration and a multiple pieces of pulse position information read from the pulse position table LUT_P corresponding to the predetermined pulse width data, a PWM circuit 106 generates a pulse width modulation signal for correction, and causes a laser unit 107 to generate a light beam.
