PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an armature that miniaturizes a DC motor, without making its performance deteriorate. SOLUTION: The armature 103 is provided with a rotating shaft 111, an armature core 112 and a commutator 113 fixed to the rotating shaft 111, and a winding 114 wound on the armature core 112. The commutator 113 is provided with segments 1-24. Wire connection claws 143a-143h, to which the winding 114 is to be connected, are formed on eight segments among them. The armature core 112 is made up of a cylindrical core body 121 and teeth 122a-122h, that extend radially from the core body 121. A housing hole 125, formed at one end in the axial direction of the core body 121 into a regular octagonal shape, as viewed from the axial direction, is such that the circumferential positions of apogees X1-X8 correspond to those of the wire connection claws 143a-143h. In this housing hole 125, one end of the axial direction of the commutator 113 is accommodated so that at least a part of the wire connection claws 143a-143h can be accommodated.
