PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for secure identity authentication, which removes customers' sense of resistance against identity authentication that uses fingerprints. SOLUTION: An automatic transaction system includes automatic cash telling machines, which automatically perform transactions with customers, and a host computer connected with them. When performing a password input transaction with input of a password number, the host computer generates a use number to be used in the next password input transaction, and then transmits it to the automatic cash telling machine and prints it out into a statement to issue it to a customer. When performing the next password input transaction, the host computer allows the customer to input his/her password number and the use number. If the use number does not match in the identity authentication, the host computer interrupts the password input transaction in the automatic cash telling machine. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
