PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for encoding multi-channel digital signals composed of a plurality of channels using a similarity between frequency bands and a similarity between channels. SOLUTION: The method of encoding digital signals includes a step (1100) of dividing the multi-channel digital signals into a predetermined number of frequency bands; a step (1110) of detecting the low-frequency bands most similar to each high-frequency bands among the frequency bands; a step (1120) of calculating a characteristic value of the high-frequency bands, a step (1130) of generating a first signal by using a first channel signal among the multi-channel signals, and generating a second signal by a combination of the first channel signal and the second channel signal; a step (1140) of quantizing a signal that belongs to the low-frequency bands among the first and second signals and the characteristic values of the high-frequency bands; and a step of generating bitstreams using information about the similar low-frequency band, the low-frequency band signal, and the characteristic values of the high-frequency bands.
