PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize the surface resistances of a fixing belt and a pressure roller in a belt fixing system so as to prevent afterimage phenomenon and defacement of transfer paper due to remelting of toner, and to prevent electrostatic offset to the fixing belt. SOLUTION: A fixing device is provided as a device for fixing an unfixed image carried on a recording medium in an image forming apparatus. The fixing device is equipped with a belt stretched around a pair of rollers, a pressure roller which comes in contact with one of the pair of rollers and can operate simultaneously with the same, and heat sources built in the other of the pair of rollers not opposite to the pressure roller and in the pressure roller, wherein the pressure roller has a volume resistance of≤1.0×10<SP>6</SP>Ω-cm at a measurement applied voltage of 10 V.
