PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent overlapping feeding of paper not largely depending on a handling member arranged at a latter stage by not simply conveying the paper stored in a paper feed cassette by a conventionally existing first pickup roller but by performing paper feeding by the first pickup roller after a slight air layer is formed between the paper sheets by a second pickup roller. SOLUTION: The paper feeding device is provided with a pair of pickup rollers 71a, 71b arranged in a left/right direction X and deflecting/curving the paper P stored in the paper feed cassette 33 in the left/right direction X. The conventional first pickup rollers 51a, 51b are brought into contact with the paper P and convey it in a paper conveying direction Y after the paper P is curved in the left/right direction X by the second pickup rollers 71a, 71b.
