PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing afterimage phenomenon and defacement of transfer paper due to remelting of toner, and capable of forming images excellent in color reproduction, chroma and transparency. SOLUTION: A fixing device 1 is used for fixing an unfixed toner image carried on a recording medium on the recording medium by applying heat and pressure. The fixing device 1 is equipped with a belt 2 stretched around a pair of roller 3, 4 and a pressure roller 5 which comes in contact with one of the pair of rollers 3, 4 and can operate simultaneously with the same, wherein the pressure roller 5 and the heating roller 3 have internal heat sources 6, 7, respectively, the heat source 6 built in the heating roller 3 has a larger heat capacity than the heat source 7 built in the pressure roller 5, and a member 121 for applying a slight amount of oil is kept in contact with a surface of the pressure roller 5.
