A cutting tool having an indexable bit comprises a shank 1 with a formed heat 2 having an anvil 9 which provides a seating 8 for the bit 3 which is secured by a clamp 15. The shape of the clamp is such as to effect a wedging action between the shoulder 17 of the shank 1 and the rear face of the bit 3 to securely hold the bit on the seating 8. The clamp 15 is secured by a screw located in a T-slot in the shank. In an alternative embodiment the clamp is located on a screw by a spring clip, the screw being engageable with a threaded bore in the shank. Other polygonal forms of bit may be used other than the triangular form shown. |
