PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for tone correction considering chromatic adaptation which people have by incorporating the color system of tristimulus values to conventional tone correction based on density measurement to a printed-out chart sheet. SOLUTION: This color printer is provided with a density value-stimulus value correlation computer 42 for computing the correlation of the measured density value and the measured tristimulus value, from the measured density value and the measured tristimulus value obtained by supplying a chart sheet 50 into a colorimeter 21; a target density value deciding part 44 for deciding a target density value corresponding to the set target tristimulus value from the correlation of the measured density value and the measured tristimulus value, and a tone corrector 45 for correcting a tone from a relation between density and an output signal obtained based on the target density value and the output signal for generating the target density value.
