PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely fix a winding type energy storage element in a metallic case so that it may not move even if it is given by vibration or the metallic case is swollen, in an energy storage element wherein the winding type energy storage element is housed in the metallic case. SOLUTION: An energy storage element 10 is formed by spirally winding a pair of band-like electrode bodies with a separator in-between. It is impregnated with a specific electrolyte and is housed in a bottomed cylindrical metallic case. Then, its opening is sealed by a sealing body 21, and lead members 11a and 11b fitted to the respective electrode bodies are led out to the outside from the sealing body 21 directly or through an external leading terminal. In such the energy storage element 10, supporting rings 30 made of an elastic member are arranged along the internal circumferential surface of the bottom of the metallic case 20 so as to support the corners of the energy storage element 10.
