PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine which displays whether data about sewing by the sewing machine is effective to carrying out of the sewing, in an easy-to-judge manner. SOLUTION: When coordinate data about a needle-dropping position according to a shape of a thread seam is inputted to the sewing machine M, the data for forming the thread seam by dropping a needle 8 to a matter to be sewn held in a range corresponding to a sewing possible area being inside of a holding frame 11 provided at the sewing machine M, it is determined whether the coordinate data is included in a group of coordinate data predetermined to the sewing possible area, and the coordinate data is displayed by a display means by a different display form according to whether or not the coordinate data is included in the group of coordinate data corresponding to the sewing possible area.
