A hollow product(2) is molded by an internal gas pressure or gas injection process and cooled. At least one layer of a softer thermoplastic(5), e.g. an elastomer, is then applied onto the outside of the molding using either a two component injection molding process or a coating method. The softer plastic may be injected or coated over the entire outer surface of the hollow molding. Alternatively where a cover(3) is to be attached to the injection molded component(2) one side remains free of soft polymer. An independent claim is included for a thermoplastic plastic hollow product(2) molded in an internal gas pressure or gas injection process and subsequently covered over at least part of the outer surface by injection or coating method with a second, softer, thermoplastic.
