A speed sensor senses the vehicle speed for checking whether the vehicle moves at a speed lower than a reference speed. A smoothening circuit smoothens the global positioning system (GPS) positioning data received from GPS satellites, when the vehicle speed is less than the reference speed. A calculator calculates the present position of the vehicle using the smoothened GPS positioning data.
