PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable drastically reducing a time and effort by minimizing a camera position (direction) or the movement of an object in performing photography, for example, aiming at the compositing of images. SOLUTION: A system ROM 132 stores a coordinates table in which coordinates of an automatic focus area in digital zooming are correlated with coordinates of a photographing area in the automatic focus area for image data picked up by an image pickup device 139. The photographing area is scaled centered at not an optical axis but the automatic focus area depending on the position of the focus area. An image processing apparatus 134 enables digital zoom by extracting image data in accordance with the coordinates of the photographing area of the coordinates table in response to the digital zoom at the time of photographing.
