The arrangement to fix a rail (12) onto a concrete sleeper (10) with guide plate (34,36) running along the long edge of the rail foot (32) and tensioning clamp (14,16) which, using a screw (28,30) running through a peg (50) in the sleeper, can be pressed upon the guide plate and rail foot. To secure the guide plate further, it is recommended that sections of the guide plate extend inside an insert (42) enclosed within the sleeper.
