The purpose of this invention is to defend against an infectious disease and control an autoimmune disease or the like by regulating the function of DC by targeting a molecule of the invention expressed on a mature DC, which is a strong APC. A protein comprising any of the following amino acid sequences is provided: (a) an amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 2 or 4; (b) an amino acid sequence in which one or more amino acid residues have been deleted, substituted, inserted and/or added in the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 2 or 4 and which can regulate an immune response; and (c) an amino acid sequence which has a homology of 80% or higher to the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 2 or 4 and can regulate an immune response.
