METHOD FOR EFFECTIVE SEARCH FOR TARGET MOLECULE

A solid support which can adsorb thereonto a highly hydrophobic target molecule (e.g., a membrane-binding protein), and a solid support which is optimized for any highly hydrophobic target molecule or any other target molecule. More specifically, a solid support having a ligand and a capping agent immobilized thereon, in which the hydrophobic properties of the surface of the solid support are controlled so as to allow the binding of a target molecule to the ligand or so as to increase the amount of a target molecule bound to the ligand; a variety of methods using the solid support (e.g., a method for concentrating, isolating or purifying a target molecule, a method for selectively adsorbing a given target molecule onto the solid support, or a method for analyzing the interaction between the ligand and a target molecule); a process for producing the solid support; a method for improving a solid support having a ligand and a capping agent immobilized thereon; and the like.
