<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved technology for a content-based router capable of easily and efficiently being adapted to a large number of users. <P>SOLUTION: Upon receipt of a data packet at an ingress router 102, the ingress router 102 matches the content of a data packet with stored subscriptions. The content is described by using XML data, and the user subscriptions are defined by XML queries.
