PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and inexpensive constitution for bringing about the protruding motion of a cutter for partial widening, in a shield machine for excavating a partially widened section including a widened section of the tunnel. SOLUTION: This shield machine comprises: a slide case 30 which can slide outward to a circumferential surface (skin plate 1) of a main body from inside the main body; the cutter 20 for partial widening, which is attached to a leading end of the slide case 30 in the state of being bent at such an angle that a cutter surface is directed obliquely forward (refer to a front-side bent part 32), which can be housed in the main body, and which can protrude to the outside from the circumferential surface of the main body by the outward sliding of the slide case 30; and a mechanism (double-acting jack) 31 for bringing about the protruding motion of the cutter, which is provided between the slide case 30 and the inside of the main body, which makes the cutter 20 make the motion of protruding to the outside from the circumferential surface of the main body, and which makes the cutter 20 make the motion of being housed in the main body.
