PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear power amplifier in which a high distortion correction amount can be attained while suppressing a secular change and a temperature variation, and to provide a setting method of its digital predistorter. SOLUTION: The linear power amplifier comprises a digital predistorter for adding a predistortion by a power series model to the output signal from an adder for compounding a digital transmission signal and a digital pilot signal, and a digital predistorter control section for converting its output signal into a signal added with an analog predistortion, up-converting its signal to a transmission frequency band, power amplifying the up-converted signal, down-converting a part of the output signal from a power amplifier, extracting distortion of the same odd order as that of the power series model from the down-converted signal, and controlling digital predistorter coefficients to lower the level of odd order distortion components wherein a digital pilot signal is a modulation signal of a narrow band.
