PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a wall member which exhibits sufficient strength, and particularly a wall member which can minimize restrictions put on a width dimension when a building wall surface is constructed. SOLUTION: The wall member 1 is erected between a beam and a sill, and formed of a pair of right and left column sections 2, 2, slits 6, and a plate section 7. Each column section 2 has joint portions 3, 4 formed at upper and lower edges thereof and connected to the beam and the sill, respectively. The slits 6 are formed in mutually opposed side surfaces 5, 5 of the respective column sections 2, 2. Each slit 6 is shorter in length than the entire length of the column section 2, longitudinally continued, and has a predetermined depth. The plate section 7 exhibits a band shape which is shorter in length than the column section 2 but longer than the slit 6, and has insertion margins 9, 8 extended from longitudinal right and left side edges thereof. Each insertion margin has almost the same length as that of the slit 6 formed in each of the column sections 2, 2. Thus the plate section 7 is arranged between the column sections 2, 2 by inserting the insertion margins 9, 8 into the slits 6, and a plurality of screws 12 are penetrated through the insertion margins 9, 8 of the plate sections 7 fitted in the respective slits 6, from a front surface to a rear surface of each column section 2, to thereby connect the column sections 2, 2 and the plate section 7 to each other.
