The method involves using a computer-controlled laser to shape the denture by removing material from a semifinished ceramic denture (3). At least one three-dimensional contoured surface region of the denture (8) is machined from the ceramic semifinshed denture using an ultra-short pulse laser (1) and is shaped to the predefined form. Most of the material is removed in a first stage in pieces and the rest is removed using the laser in erosion mode.
