<p>A muffler for a small engine having a large muffling effect and exhaust gas purification effect, enabling the easy manufacturing of an exhaust gas purifier, and manufacturable at low cost. The muffler comprises a first expansion chamber (12) for exhaust gas having an exhaust gas inlet (11) connected to the exhaust port of the engine, a second expansion chamber (15) for exhaust gas partitioned from the first expansion chamber (12) through a partition plate (14) and communicating with the first expansion chamber (12) through a first air hole (13) in the partition plate (14), and a third expansion chamber (18) for exhaust gas partitioned from the second expansion chamber (15) through the partition plate (14) communicating with the second expansion chamber (15) through a second air hole (16) in the partition plate (14) and having an exhaust gas outlet (17). The muffler is characterized in that a first heat resistant mesh catalyst (19) is installed at the exhaust gas inlet (11), and the first exhaust gas purifier (20) formed by coating a catalyst for purifying the exhaust gas on a heat resistant knit fabric (20a) is installed at the first air hole (13) in the partition plate (14).</p> |
