HONEYCOMB FILTER MANUFACTURING METHOD AND HONEYCOMB FILTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reliably forming sealing parts at positions remote from an edge face; particularly a method for preventing breakage of partitions during forming the sealing parts at positions remote from an edge face by using a sealing material injection apparatus having a tubular member with a prescribed length; and a method for avoiding clogging with the sealing agent and also preventing occurrence of burr in the sealing parts in the production and to provide a honeycomb filter in which sealing parts are formed at the positions remote from the edge face.

SOLUTION: A tubular member is inserted into flow channels of a honeycomb structural body having a large number of the flow channels partitioned with partitioning walls and a sealing material is injected through the tubular member to produce a honeycomb filter having at least sealing parts remote from the end face of the structure in the flow channels. In this production method, the outer diameter of the tubular member is 40 to 90% of the opening size of the flow channels.
