PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the image quality of a reduced image through reduction processing combining decimation processing and average processing of image information being outputted from an imaging element. SOLUTION: Pixel position detecting/coefficient selecting sections 10 and 12 input movement amount data indicative of the magnification for CCD data (pixel data), and an offset for first pixel and an offset for second pixel indicative of reduction start position. The pixel position detecting/coefficient selecting sections 10 and 12 determine the position of an interpolation pixel depending on offset and movement amount data, and transmit coefficient data for pixels before and behind that interpolation position from coefficient selecting sections 23 and 33 to a reduction operating section 14. The reduction operating section 14 multiplies the CCD data (pixel data) before and behind the interpolation position by the coefficient data and adds the products to create pixel information of interpolation pixel.
