A teeing means comprising a mat 31, from which the ball is played at a variable height, a ball-holder 2, a ball-holder keeper 3 and a resilient keeper binder 33. The ball-holder stem 6 is normally kept vertical at its required height, by being lightly forced, by the binder, into lateral contact within a vertical groove on the keeper. Stretching of the binder allows the ball-holder to pivot upon the keeper, when driven before the club; but the enlarged end of the ball-holder stem then prevents its disengagement from the keeper and the binder.
