Liquid to be treated by ion-exchange enters at supply pipes 7 or 8 and leaves via pipe 9. Rinsing liquid is supplied via pipe 9 and removed by pipes 7 and 10 until piston 6 rises above level 7. Rinsing is stopped, liquid is removed by pipe 9 and the piston is again supported by resin. Regenerant liquid is then supplied via pipe 9 and removed via pipe 5 while diluting liquid through pipes 7 and 10 keeps the piston in contact with the resin. |
