<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcast receiver capable of preventing received character superimposition from being missed in the case of leaving in the middle, etc. by enabling a user to set erasure conditions of the character superimposition. <P>SOLUTION: The erasure conditions of the character superimposition are displayed by a menu. "Default" of menu items of the erasure conditions is a case that erasure timing of OSD is set according to control from a broadcasting station, "erasure by key operation" is a case that the character superimposition is displayed until a key operation of a remote controller is performed after display of the character superimposition is started and the display of the character superimposition is erased at the time when the key operation is performed, "erasure after one minute", "erasure after five minutes" and "erasure after 10 minute" are cases that the character superimposition is repeatedly displayed for one minute, five minutes and ten minutes from starting of the display of the character superimposition and the display is erased after the time elapses.
