PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system and a map display method for comprehensively displaying landmarks or facilities set by a user, and for comprehensively displaying a part of the map that is really necessary for the navigation on a road or the like. SOLUTION: In the map display method, the types of landmarks or facilities set by the user are stored, at least the landmark in the type, or the facility and the roads are color-displayed in the same chroma as the map data, and the part of the map, that is not displayed in the same chroma as the map data, is color-displayed with lower chroma. In this case, a priority display score is stored for each map display object, and the landmarks, facilities, roads, and other display objects are color-displayed in the chroma according to the priority display score.
