PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adjuvant which enables the parenteral delivery of a vaccine for raising an immune response. SOLUTION: The composition is a parenteral adjuvant composition comprising a detoxified mutant of a bacterial ADP-ribosylating toxin as a parenteral adjuvant and at least one selected antigen. In one embodiment, the nontoxic adjuvant is a detoxified mutant selected from the group consisting of cholera toxin (CT), pertussis toxin (PT), and E. coli heat-labile toxin (LT).
