PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new structure containing sulfated zirconia effective as a solid acid catalyst and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The new structure wherein sulfated zirconium is present at the surface layer part of the structure, particularly the surface layer part from the outer surface of the structure to a portion having a depth of 1-1,000μm, and sulfated zirconia is not contained in the inside layer being an inert carrier excluding the structure surface layer part by depositing zirconium hydroxide and/or zirconium oxide on the surface layer part of the inert carrier and firing at 350-800°C after the sulfating treatment.
