A tank gauge for indicating the amount of liquid within a tank (1), the gauge including a float (11) adapted to lie within the tank (1) so as to float on the liquid therein, an indicating rod (12) connected to the float (11) to extend above the float (11), and a guide (13) for the rod (12) to orientate the rod substantially vertically such that the rod (12) extends via the guide (13) to a position above the top of the tank (2), the rod (12) being freely movable in a vertical direction with the float (11) such that the amount of liquid within the tank (1) is indicated by the length of rod(12) extending above the top of the tank (2). |
