The method involves interrupting a ring structure by network nodes (1-6) as an interruption manager and dynamically assigning the functionality of the manager to network nodes. The special function of the manager is noticed by the nodes, where the function is provided directly in an interrupted network ring line. The function is transferred with an Ethernet-media access control (MAC) address by the nodes. An independent claim is also included for a data network with a ring structure comprising network nodes.
