The device includes a traverse (24) fixed to the machine at a spacing (25) which is greater than the radius of the circumference (34) of the brake discs (16, 17), over a sector (32) of the length of the shaft (8) and parallel to it. The shaft carries a movable and lockable rider (26, 27, 28, 29). Each rider carries a roller (31) to act on one of the brake surfaces (19, 20, 21, 22) of the brake discs.
