<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a catalyst for exhaust gas purification capable of maintaining the status of a small particle size of a noble metal and having an excellent heat resistance with a small amount of the noble metal by preventing the degradation of dispersivity of the noble metal. <P>SOLUTION: A catalyst 1 for exhaust gas purification comprises at least one noble metal 2 selected from the group consisting of Pt, Pd and Rh, and a composite compound 3a, 3b prepared by dispersing at least one chemical compound of metallic element selected from the group consisting of Al, Ce, La, Zr, Co, Mn, Fe, Mg, Ba and Ti in at least one oxide selected from the group consisting of Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, ZrO<SB>2</SB>and CeO<SB>2</SB>, wherein the noble metal 2 is supported by the composite compound 3a, 3b in such a manner that a part of the surface of the noble metal 2 is covered by the composite compound. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
