PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk insertion detecting device capable of detecting the presence or absence of disk insertion with inexpensive constitution even if a disk has very high transmissivity. SOLUTION: The disk insertion detecting device comprises an optical sensor 31 for detecting displacement of a shutter member 30 by preparing the shutter member 30 displaced by abutment of a disk 22 inserted from an insertion mouth 26, and an insertion detecting means 32 for detecting whether or not the disk 22 is inserted based on the detection result of an optical sensor 31. Since a displacement state of the shutter member 30 is constant irrespective of variations of reflectance and transmissivity of the disk 22, the insertion state of the disk 22 can be detected more accurately and easily compared with the case that the disk 22 itself is irradiated with light.
