PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve tracking characteristics at a boundary between a recorded part and an unrecorded part in the other layer in an optical disk device which drives a multilayer optical disk. SOLUTION: When recording or reproduction is made to a multilayer optical disk 10, a servo processor 30 adds a positive offset or a negative offset at a boundary between a recorded part and an unrecorded part of the other layer to correct a deviation of the balance of a tracking error signal at the boundary. The polarization of the offset is set by a system controller 32 based on a position of the recording part of the other layer and the moving direction of an optical pickup in the radius direction.
