PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traffic accident detection apparatus that can appropriately record an accident and cope with the accident. SOLUTION: The traffic accident detection apparatus 100a is installed in the vicinity of an intersection. The traffic accident detection apparatus 100a inputs sounds in the vicinity of the intersection and recognizes the occurrence of an accident according to the sounds. When the occurrence of an accident is recognized, cameras 200a and 200b downstream of the intersection capable of imaging the details of vehicles are signaled to start recognizing vehicle license plates and recording detailed images.
