PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for driving a capacitive light emitting element which is reduced in size. SOLUTION: A power supply circuit includes: a series connection circuit of a capacitor and a coil; a first switching element connected between one end of the series connection circuit and a ground potential; a DC power supply generating the first potential; and a second switching element connected between the DC power supply and a power source line. The other end of the switching element connection circuit is connected to the power source line. An output circuit includes a third switching element connecting the power source line and electrodes according to data pulses, and a fourth switching element selectively grounding the electrodes, and applies the data pulses on the electrodes by successively implementing: a first driving stroke to put only the third switching element into an on state; a second driving stroke to put only the second switching element and the third switching element into the on state; and a third driving stroke to put only the first switching element and the third switching element into the on state.
