PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front filter capable of preventing generation of interference patterns, while enhancing contrast and reducing ghosts, by excluding adverse effects of external light. SOLUTION: A BS layer 12 and a diffusion layer 13 are arranged between a PDP 1 and a protection layer 11. The contrast is enhanced and the ghost is reduced, by excluding the adverse effects of the external light by providing the BS layer 12. In addition, generation of the interference patterns, such as moire fringes generated between the PDP 1 and a light absorbing part 12c of the BS layer 12 is prevented by arranging the diffusion layer 13.
