PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method by which occurrence of voids in a transferred image can be prevented even when a rigid body is used as a transfer member. SOLUTION: The image forming method includes a latent image forming step of forming an electrostatic latent image on the surface of an image carrier, a developing step of forming a toner image by developing the electrostatic latent image formed on the surface of the image carrier with toner, a first transfer step of transferring the toner image formed on the surface of the image carrier onto the surface of a belt member; a second transfer step of transferring the toner image on the surface of the belt member onto a transfer body, and a fixing step of forming an image by fixing the toner image on the transfer body, wherein the first transfer step is a step of transferring the toner image onto the surface of the belt member by passing the belt member between the image carrier and a rigid transfer member, and the toner has a shape factor of≤140.
