PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an axial gap type motor that is high in output, small in size, light in weight, and high in efficiency. SOLUTION: Stators 12, 13 are arranged so as oppose each other in the axial direction of a rotor 11, a plurality of coils 15 or permanent magnets 33 are arranged around an axis line of the rotor 11, a plurality of armature coils 17, 19 are arranged around axis lines of the stators 12, 13, and either of the magnetic field coil 15 or the permanent magnet 33 and each armature coil 17, 19 is formed of a superconducting material, and is arranged with its magnetic flux direction oriented to the axial direction.
