PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a building with an open residential space while exerting a necessary strength without formation of protruding structural members from a ceiling or a floor in an opening. SOLUTION: According to the structure of the building, the width of a beam 1 in the opening of the building is larger than the width of a column 2, and the beam 1 extends in a slab direction to form a floor surface of a balcony 5. The thickness of the beam is almost equal to a distance between a ceiling surface and a floor surface of a habitable room, and therefore no structural member is protruded from inside the habitable room to the opening 4, which contributes to formation of the large opening, to thereby obtain the habitable room with spaciousness. Further the balcony 5 may be provided with a glass handrail or a muntin handrail, and therefore the visibility from inside the habitable room is expanded, to thereby contribute to formation of the open habitable room.
