PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aromatic polyamide fiber paper being uniform and having highly bulky density and excellent also in mechanical properties even when the paper is thin material having≤25 g/m<SP>2</SP>basis weight without impairing heat resistance, heat dimensional stability, electrical insulating properties under high humidity inherent in a substrate made of aramid fiber. SOLUTION: The aromatic polyamide fiber paper contains a fibrid and/or an organic resin binder composed of a copoly-paraphenylene-3,4'-oxydiphenylene-terephthalamide short fiber and a heat-resistant organic polymer as main components. In the fiber paper, a part or all of the short fiber is flattened and the ratio (A/B) of long diameter (A) to short diameter (B) of single yarn cross section after subjecting the flattened yarn to dry heat treatment for 5 min at 350°C is≥1.7 and the basis weight of the fiber paper is 3-25 g/m<SP>2</SP>.
