[Also in Division B7] In a motor vehicle suspension the rear end of each leaf spring 2 supporting the vehicle frame 1 on a front axle 9 is connected to one arm 3 of a bell-crank lever which is pivotally mounted on the frame 1 and carries on its other arm 6 an abutment 7 for engagement with the frame 1 under rebound conditions and an abutment 8 for engagement with the spring 2 under bump conditions. The abutments 7, 8 may be of rubber or metal and are secured to the arm 6 with provision for adjustment longitudinally of the arm. Each connection 10 between the axle 9 and the springs 2 carries a bump stop 11 for engagement with the frame 1. The invention may also be applied to a rear axle suspension. |
