<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device of an MVA system having high luminance and satisfactory display quality. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with: a pair of substrates disposed opposite to each other; a liquid crystal encapsulated between the pair of substrates; a plurality of pixel regions each provided with a pixel electrode 16a and a pixel electrode 16b separated from the pixel electrode 16a which are formed on one substrate; TFTs 20 disposed for each pixel region and provided with source electrodes 22 electrically connected to the pixel electrodes 16a; linear protrusions 42 formed on the other substrate and regulating alignment of the liquid crystal; and control capacitance electrodes 33 electrically connected to the source electrodes 22, opposed to at least one part of the pixel electrodes 16b via an insulating film, disposed so that at least one parts thereof are superposed on the linear protrusions 42 when being seen vertically to a substrate surface and extended along the linear protrusions 42, and that the liquid crystal display device has control capacitance parts capacitively coupling the source electrodes 22 to the pixel electrodes 16b. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
