PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map update system which acquires suitable map information. SOLUTION: The map update system 100 is equipped with a server 400 comprising; an update content recognition means for recognizing an update content of update map information and generating the update content information; a user recognition means for recognizing distribution demand information and user information including the distribution demand information when it is determined that a demand content of the distribution demand information is included in the update content information; and an information transmitting means for transmitting a part of the update map information in a rewritable state to terminal units 300, 300A and 300B corresponding to the user information, and the terminal units 300, 300A and 300B equipped with a terminal map update means for acquiring the transmitted update map information and for storing a part of the update map information in a terminal storing means so as to be rewritten.
